Community Scorecards for London Colleges

Community scorecards provide information in a simple, easy to use format, accessible to individuals, employers and other stakeholders. They offer a simple and standardised way for Further Education colleges to demonstrate their performance on a number of indicators, such as employer engagement and learner success.

The Association of Colleges was commissioned, via the London Development Agency (LDA), to progress the concept of the community scorecard for London. Meeting the needs of London’s labour market is an important agenda for the LSEB and reflected in documents from both the LSEB and the Mayor’s office.

At the heart of a demand led system are informed customers who are able to make the right decisions for themselves or their businesses in full knowledge of the options available and the opportunities that they will open up:

  • Individuals need to know that their chosen course is of a high quality and valued by employers.
  • Employers need confidence in the system and to be able to influence what is provided.

The system also needs to be flexible enough to respond to local economic needs and opportunities and London's diverse local economies.
